Short-Term Stay After Hospital Admission
Patients that have been admitted to a hospital for a minimum of three nights may have the option for a short-term stay in our center to receive 24-hour Nursing care and Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy up to seven-days each week. Patients may also request a short-term Respite in-patient stay for periods of a few days to several months.

In-Patient Residential Stay
Patients that require a permanent in-patient stay may be admitted from the Hospital, Assisted Living Facility or Home after receiving an admission order from their primary physician.

[review] => Hoping this place gets looked into regarding their staffing shortages. The food served to residents is awful. The entire facility is in dire need of renovations. Plus, I’d say only 20% of the staff working here actually cares about patients and their job. The rest are just lazy and out taking smoke breaks non stop. Doing the bare minimum.

[review] => It is unfortunate a facility like this exists. What’s insane is that it’s over $8,000 a month for a SHARED bedroom. The rooms are filthy, residents have complained that they skip meals because the food is horrible. They are short staffed EVERYDAY. The call bell alarm is beeping non stop and the residents have to listen to it beep while trying to sleep ( try a call bell phone…not something everyone hears). 1 nurse per hall ( a hall can have over 20 patients). Most of the LPNs and RNs are nice people and they can’t help there is only one of them assigned per hall. That’s a management problem. About 50% of the CNAs care about their job and have to pick up the slack of others. Rhonda was amazing and I hope management knows her worth and compensates her so ( if not, I pray she finds a place that appreciates her). Oh and the PPE confuses me with the cheapo gloves that rip the second you put them on and the lack of disinfectant but what do I know. Oh yeah, if you’re Medicaid pending you are not required to pay for your stay until Medicaid is no longer pending ( because it back pays)… but the business office will try and convince you otherwise when they have no right to. Just laugh in their face and tell them you’re Medicaid pending and to take it up with them.
When in doubt…please call your ombudsman or consult a lawyer about your rights. Also FAMILY, NEVER ever sign the paperwork at admission without a thorough review/lawyer review. You may be signing that you are responsible for payment and you do NOT want to take on that responsibility ACCIDENTALLY. As family you do not legally need to sign admission paperwork. Just understand what you sign before doing so at ANY nursing home facility.

[review] => We had to find a place for my dad to go to rehab, I’ll be honest I was a little skeptical of the reviews on Cypress point. When he was transferred there and I went over, I was met with the most friendly, caring staff. It’s very clean dad seem to enjoy the food And the physical therapy staff was amazing. Sadly, my dad passed away there. He was 91 1/2 and it was his time to go there in his transitioning. The nurses and Dr. Williams were outstanding. They were caring and very compassionate. The two receptionist would answer all my questions, and if they didn’t have an answer, they would call me back with it. Dr. Williams had so much compassion for his patience. He sit there and held my dad‘s hand and let my dad ramble on and on about things, in the last week I knew we were losing him, so we were there several times a day, and each time the staff was there asking us if there was anything we needed and promised that they were keeping him very comfortable. I highly recommend this little hidden Jewel on 16th St. Passed away December 26, 2023. Thank you Cypress point for taking care of my dad.

[review] => Working in a large medical center, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Falling off my roof a few months ago, going through a few surgeries on my right ankle and left elbow, I ended up at Cypress Pointe Rehab. The two opposing injuries made any rehab difficult. But I must say, everyone in the rehab area were amazing. The techs are all well educated, well experienced, and very nice. I watched how they worked with the residents, treating them with respect, and much like family. The techs always found the balance between pushing the residents to overcome their disabilities, and not giving them more than they could do at the time. As for me, with my injuiries, they found unique ways to begin my rehab process. After a few weeks, with their guidance, I made amazing progress. The LORD truly blessed me with the whole team. I want to thank Wesley, a very nice lady, who was the mediator between myself and the insurance company. There were a few nurses who were great. You know who you are. I want to thank Nate,, Doug,, Lindsey, Lizzie, Brian, John, John, and Amber. Also Garry, the unit manager. GOD bless you all.

[review] => I have worked at Cypress Pointe for over a year now. Our Administrator and Director of Nursing as well as our Therapy Director are some of the absolute best in the business at what they do. They rock! They truly care about our patients, their families and our staff. We have an excellent therapy department. From our kitchen staff, to our Custodial Staff, our Nurses, CNAs, our maintenance staff, our Social Worker, our Nursing Unit Manager, our Activities Director……. really our ENTIRE Cypress Pointe family is very close and it is a wonderful place to work! Our medical director Dr. Williams and NP Shannon and team of medical students from ECU make rounds daily and have amazing attention to detail in following and tracking each resident and their medical needs. Our wound doctor, Dr. Murphy closely tracks wound care and also rounds weekly and sees each resident on her case load. A very special shout out to Holley, you will be greatly missed!

I am no ready near being able to walk yet since the accident I lost everything My place to stay and all My insurance they said was'nt paying no more now they're kicking me out in the streets. They haven't caught the driver that hit me yet but still I don't know how they could kick you out in the streets and you have nowhere to go and unable to walk in a wheelchair that is insane I agree with the other reviews they need to shut this place down it's all about the money here. They know that I applied for Medicaid and sooner or later they would get money but still they're going on the right now and trying to kick me out with a wheelchair can't walk nowhere to go how do you survive because I was injured by another negligent driver and me a pedestrian on my way to work. I'm a responsible adult The things that happen to me was not my fault but still how can they kick you out with nowhere to go can't walk injured in a wheelchair that is insane someone please help I have no other options two weeks before this I lost my mother my grandmother and my grandfather My grandfather had Alzheimer's My mother had stage 4 bone cancer and my grandma passed away of a broken heart from which I didn't know was a thing those were the only people that could help me right now in my situation this place knows that and everything else that I've been through they don't care They only C.A.R.E...about money that's crazy can someone please help me My email is jgj 3400@gmail

[review] => From the night I arrived until the day I left, I found the care outstanding! I can’t say enough about how welcomed and cared for I felt during my stay. Wesley, Alison, and John (heads ofAdmin, Nursing, and Therapy) were both friendly and professional on their care. I required physical, occupational, and speech therapy and I found all therapists challenging and supportive throughout my stay with a special call out to Doug, Nate, and Robin for their care. [review] => Our 91 year old mother was at Cypress Point for 2 months. We all had a wonderful experience! It is a no-frills facility, but great nursing staff and therapists. They were concerned about her safety and really focused on getting her ready to go back home. The therapists did a home visit before discharge and were meticulous! We were able to make our home safe and have her return home. Our mother really enjoyed the outside courtyard. It is a small facility with a great community feel. We will return if further rehab is needed.

[review] => Horrible place, do not put your loved one here. My mother has suffered cuts, bruises, neglect, abuse, her clothes have been stolen. Once they get control of her SSI, they issue a discharge notice and are kicking her out on the street. They refuse to bring her to scheduled medical appointments they say it's not necessary.
The place is filthy and smells like urine. The roaches are prolific and fall off the food cart when they roll it down the hall. The administration declines your calls and will leave early so they won't have to do their job. I have all of this documented if you need proof.

[review] => The first couple days were a bit rough. My mother had a hard time adjusting to a nursing care facility. The staff had a hard time meeting her personal care needs or goals. Just to point out some opportunities, every individual patient should have a personal shift checklist for the staff to meet their personal requirements. Also my mother did not like the food but I noticed the food tray would be dropped off but they wouldn't wake her or help situate her to eat.
However most importantly management has shown willingness to accommodate as they coordinated with the staff to provide better individual care. The rehab staff has done a good job trying to help get my mother back on her feet. Thank you to all who participated in my mother's treatment and care.

[Review Text Prior To Jun 30, 2022] => This was the worst mistake we ever made. I will say the therapy team and the rehab center made efforts to do their jobs and they were tuned into the residents far more then the nursing team. After a week and a half my mother is crying for me to get her out of there. She has to lay in urine for 2 hours or more sometimes waiting for someone to come help her. Sometimes a CNA would come in and turn the buzzer off then leave her wet and make her wait
Mostly everyone that works there is rude and shouldn't even be allowed around elderly people. She was told by staff to keep money or valuables in the safe in her room. There is money missing from the safe and they made excuses and tried to blame us for leaving money in the safe. Then found out every key fits in every safe in the whole facility which makes no sense.

[review] => If I could give a zero, I would...Actually it would be more like a -10! HORRIBLE facility!!! My sister has cancer and was sent here for rehab due to weakness and 'extreme' pain. The facility NEVER gave her pain meds so they missed 2 full doses. They would not answer the call bell which they said "may or may not work", and they would not come to her cries for help. She finally had to call 911 HERSELF that night/early morning to have them come get her because the pain was so excruciating and the staff would not come to her aid. It took the hospital several hours to get her pain back under control. If you love your family member, please DO NOT send them to this facility. NOBODY should have to go through that kind of pain or experience. It is inhumane to make anyone suffer like that!!!

[review] => John Pho, PT is an asset to this disappointing rehab center. In fact therapy was outstanding. But administrators Angela and Angie are uncaring and unprofessional as Administrators and as a result the facility cannot keep employees. And they do nothing to help morale or pitch in to help.I could fill this review with horror stories from unanswered call button alerts, stolen money, at times having to lie in soiled linens and clothes, cold food, no snacks, no water pitcher,etc. It’s impossible to describe my entire 5 week stay there only to say I do not know how they remain open, including law wise, and Lord help me if I ever have to stay there again. Some of the staff (nurses, CNA’s, Dr Williams, housekeeping) were for the most part caring, compassionate, considerate, etc but the good are overworked and overwhelmed. I would never recommend coming here. Never!!

[review] => My wife went here after a partial hip replacement and has been there 10 days. Response times of between 45 minutes to an hour on multiple occasions to change a bedpan. Physical Therapy staff was overly aggressive during the rehabilitation phase, resulting in a broken femur. Do not send your loved ones to this place. Seemed good going in until i started hearing from family and church members who were visiting that they were sropping gis food off and leaving, knowing he currently struggles to feed himself. When confronted Trish, they're friday evening nurse advised they were understaffed because it was friday which was clearly visible with patients wandering the halls wholly unsupervised. She heard my concern and immediately overspoke and became argumentative, i had not been aware she was the nurse seemingly reaponsible for the lapse in care. She refused to put another person on the line despite my emphatic requests, even being advised that there is a conflict of interest in her taking a grievance on her. She instead placed me on hold and did not return. When i called back she immediately did so again. On a third attempt she advised she would gear me out, and placed me on hold again. Dyring the intermittent oppurtunities for me to be able to speak without being interrupted by this person she advised there was no one else i could speak witg, it was not possible. Instead she began to fill out a grievance form against me. About 20 minutes later Allison karwoski, the director of nursing, called me back. Apparently having been asked to do so by Trish. She listened politely but then advised she felt her nurse was correct and i was being belligerent. I advised i was infuriated at her nurses handling of the entire circumstance.she never once responded to my direct concerns, never once addressed any of the issues i had presented. Instead, like her nurse, she too began to overtalk while i was speaking. I asked her multiple times if there was someone above her i could speak with, she said no. When she finally did advise that the facility was owned by southern healthcare, it came only after i advised her she was being recorded and advised her it is the fifth and final time i would ask. When i finally gave up with their profoundly adolescent behaviour and advised her i would speak to her personally and asked when she would be available she said have a good day and hung up. I cannot stress this enough, with love and understanding to any who have family in need of these facilities, their care would be better handled in a kennel than at tgis abominable clown run facility.

[review] => I would never send a relative to this facility! A patient was left at the physician's office I worked at and never picked up. They waited for hours. The phones have been down at the facility so I literally had to drive to the rehab center myself and remind them that the patient was still here. They do not seem to have a record of who is dropped off where or the this would never have happened. Unacceptable!!!!

[review] => This place is horrible! I have to say besides the most water bugs cockroaches I have ever seen, the Administrator of the building was the most vile woman I have ever come in contact with. Not only was she dismissive to me and my family but to her staff, this was all very apparent and witnessed. The staff I found to be wonderful especially Lindsay the social worker. They need to replace a certain someone there.

[review] => This place is horrible! It reeks of nastiness! The Nurses and CNAs don't pay attention to the patients. The patients only get a bath once a week. The patients are not monitored like they should be. My sister is diabetic and being feed food she should not be eating! My sister in law feel out of bed because her bed rails we're not put up and busted her head open and had to have stiches. New Hanover Regional Medical Hospital stitched up her head and sent her back to the Nursing Home without keeping her for a few days to make sure she didn't have a concussion. Both New Hanover Regional and Cypress Pointe are sorry medical facilities. If you are not able to speak up for yourself you get treated like dirt. Cypress Pointe should be closed down. People sent to this facility are the ones with Medicaid and Medicare. People with this insurances are always sent to the sorriest doctors and facilities which is not right! These people deserve to be treated well just like others with other kinds of insurance. People should monitor closely their love ones in any facility to make sure they are getting what they need and the proper care because some of these places are in it for the money and nothing else.

[review] => The only positive thing I can relate about our experience here are the nurses and aides. Friendly, helpful and compassionate.They seem to do the best they can under present circumstances but are overloaded and I’m sure underpaid. The administrator and social worker are far too concerned about diagnosing my daughter’s mental state relying on the pseudo science of psychiatry. I have always hoped she’d get the help she needed but It’s very doubtful it will be here. They don’t respect the wishes of family members and cannot follow simple requests to leave her laundry alone. Many of her things have gone missing.I see that they have a below average rating as far as nursing homes go. I’d not give them that much if it weren’t for their care staff, not admin. My daughter was dumped here without our permission. I’m sure the NHRMC never tried to get her closer home as we had requested. All her family are 3 hours and farther away which is why we are not able to oversee the things they are putting her through. Brain damaged people cannot make their own day to day decisions in my book yet they think she can. She’s taking them for a ride. Wisdom is justified of her children.

We had to find a place for my dad to go to rehab, I’ll be honest I was a little skeptical of the reviews on Cypress point. When he was transferred there and I went over, I was met with the most friendly, caring staff. It’s very clean dad seem to enjoy the food And the physical therapy staff was amazing. Sadly, my dad passed away there. He was 91 1/2 and it was his time to go there in his transitioning. The nurses and Dr. Williams were outstanding. They were caring and very compassionate. The two receptionist would answer all my questions, and if they didn’t have an answer, they would call me back with it. Dr. Williams had so much compassion for his patience. He sit there and held my dad‘s hand and let my dad ramble on and on about things, in the last week I knew we were losing him, so we were there several times a day, and each time the staff was there asking us if there was anything we needed and promised that they were keeping him very comfortable. I highly recommend this little hidden Jewel on 16th St. Passed away December 26, 2023. Thank you Cypress point for taking care of my dad.
